On the evening of June 7th, the awards ceremony for the “Vietnam Ambassador’s Cup 2026” charity golf tournament took place at the Hulencourt golf course in Genappe, Walloon Brabant province, Kingdom of Belgium. This was the 13th season of the annual event co-held by the Vietnamese Embassy in the Kingdom of Belgium (also serving the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg), the Vietnamese Mission to the European Union (EU), in collaboration with Ms. Chris Geyskens - businesswoman and Director of the Belgian branch of the Hoi An Association for Victims of Agent Orange (VAVA Hoi An).
This year's tournament attracted 80 amateur golfers, including businesspeople and diplomats working in Brussels, along with a large number of Vietnamese expatriates in Belgium. At the end of the tournament, Ms. Tran Thi Tuyet Lan won the Women's Championship, while Mr. Tran Van Cong won the Men's Championship.
More than just a sporting event, the Vietnam Ambassador's Cup also served as a forum for networking and connecting the business community, diplomats, and Belgian friends who have affection for Vietnam. Within the framework of the tournament, participants discussed opportunities for cooperation, investment, and business in Vietnam, while contributing to supporting Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange, spreading the spirit of compassion and community responsibility.
The organizers announced that this year's tournament raised nearly 13,000 euros. As usual, the money donated will be directly transferred by Ms. Chris Geyskens to Agent Orange victims in Hoi An at the end of this year. This money will be used to support healthcare facilities, provide scholarships for disadvantaged children, and build housing for victim families.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vietnamese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Head of the Vietnamese Mission to the EU, Nguyen Van Thao, highly appreciated Ms. Chris Geyskens's persistent contributions to supporting Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange over the past 13 years. He emphasized that despite her old age, she has always dedicated herself to maintaining the annual charity golf tournament, thereby contributing to alleviating the Agent Orange pain and supporting those affected by the consequences of war in Vietnam.
He affirmed that the success of the Vietnam Ambassador’s Cup continues to be a vivid example for the friendship, close ties, and effective cooperation between Vietnam and Belgium, as well as between Vietnam and the EU.
The Vietnam Ambassador’s Cup was first held in 2013. Over 13 seasons, the event has become a meaningful charity activity, receiving positive response from the international community. By the end of 2025, nearly 2 billion VND had been transferred to VAVA Hoi An through the tournament to support families of Agent Orange victims in developing their livelihoods, improving their living conditions, and gradually stabilizing their lives.
