The Vietnam Agent Orange Magazine was established under the license of the Ministry of Information and Communications, based on the Agent Orange Newsletter of the Central Committee of VAVA. The first issue of the Magazine, published on January 10, 2016, officially gave birth to a specialized media outlet with a noble mission: holding the voice of the Association, the forum for Association officials at all levels, and for millions of Agent Orange/Dioxin victims nationwide. On June 19, 2023, the President of VAVA signed Decision No. 69/QD-TWH, designating January 10th of every year as the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Agent Orange Magazine.
After 10 years of effort and dedication, the Magazine has built a staff of reporters and editors that is sufficient in number, strong in expertise, possesses high moral character, firm political convictions, dedicated to their profession and to the Agent Orange victims. In particular, its network of collaborators has spread across 34 provinces and cities.
Currently, the Magazine publishes two versions, including a print version and an electronic one. The print magazine is published regularly 12 volumes a year, with an average circulation of over 9,000 copies per volume, distributed to more than 2,400 outlets nationwide. After 10 years, the total number of printed copies has reached nearly 1.2 million – an impressive figure for a specialized publication rich in political commentary and humanistic values. Launched in 2019, the online magazine, available in both Vietnamese and English, has published over 113,000 articles by the end of 2025, attracting millions of visits from 150 countries and territories. It has become a fast, reliable, and highly-regarded information channel for readers both domestically and internationally.
During its operation, the Vietnam Agent Orange Magazine has consistently adhered to the leadership and guidance of the Central Committee of the Association, strictly implementing its principles and objectives; focusing on disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and regulations, especially Directive No. 43 of the Central Party Secretariat on strengthening leadership in addressing the consequences of toxic chemicals used by the US in the war in Vietnam. Its columns have been continuously updated in content and form, vividly reflecting the “Action for Agent Orange Victims in Vietnam” movement, contributing to raising social awareness and promoting activities to care for and assist victims.
In addition to its propaganda mission, the Vietnam Agent Orange Magazine also actively participates in social and charitable activities. Over the past 10 years, the Magazine has raised more than 3.7 billion VND, directly supporting nearly 1,600 victims through programs, such as “Tet for Victims of Agent Orange”, “Livelihood Support”, etc. These activities not only provide material support but also strongly spread the spirit of compassion and solidarity within the community.
The Magazine's persistent efforts have been praised with numerous prestigious awards and prizes. Notable among them are the C Prize of the National Journalism Award in 2021; and the Second Prize in the "Protecting the Ideological Foundation of the Party" written contest in 2024 launched by the Ministry of National Defense. The magazine received a consolation prize in the "Protecting the Ideological Foundation of the Party" written contest held by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in 2026…
The magazine has been awarded certificates of merit by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Ministry of National Defense, the Vietnam Journalists Association, and the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin – a recognition of the persistent efforts, responsibility, and dedication of its staff, reporters, editors, and employees over 10 years of development; and a great source of encouragement for the magazine to continue fulfilling its mission of disseminating and spreading humanitarian values, compassion, and justice for victims of Agent Orange/dioxin in Vietnam.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Nguyen Huu Chinh stated that: The Vietnam Agent Orange Magazine is not only the mouthpiece of the Association, but also a forum for compassionate hearts, a flame that nourishes faith, will, and aspirations for justice for Agent Orange victims. He suggested that the Magazine continue to innovate its content and format, improve the quality of its propaganda, promote digital transformation, expand media cooperation, and become a reliable source of information for readers both domestically and internationally.
Entering a new phase of development, the Vietnam Orange Magazine is determined to continue building its staff with “Bright minds - Sharp pens - Pure hearts”, cultivating professional ethics according to the 10 principles of the Code of Ethics for Vietnamese Journalists; upholding the tradition of 10 years of foundation and growth, striving to become a modern, professional media agency with a strong humanitarian value, worthy of being “The voice of conscience, compassion, and justice” in the country’s new era of development.
