Letter of the 4th National Congress of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange (2018 – 2023 term) to Vietnam’s Victims of Agent Orange

Dear cadres, members of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange at all levels and all the victims of Agent Orange in Vietnam!

Dear cadres, members of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange at all levels and all the victims of Agent Orange in Vietnam!

The 4th National Congress of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange was convened on 4th and 5th December 2018 in Hanoi and ended successfully. 323 delegates representing for over 400 thousand members country-wide attended the Congress. The Congress has reviewed the operations of the Association and mapped out the guidelines, goals and measures for implementing the goals of the Association until 2023. The Congress has elected the Central Committee of the Association, and its Supervision Board to manage the operations of the Association during the 2018-2023 period.

The 4th Congress of the Association convened during the time that the entire Association, together with the whole political system, is striving to implement the Directive No. 43-CT/TW dated 14th May 2015 of the Party’s Secretariat on strengthening the Party’s leadership on the settlement of the consequences of toxic chemicals used by the U.S in Vietnam War, and to gain achievements to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Association’s establishment.

The Association saw the honourable attendance of the leaders of the Party, the State, the Vietnam’s Fatherland Front, and delegates from the central commissions, ministries, and sectors. Particularly, His Excellency, Comrade Tran Thanh Man, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, representing for the leaders of the Party and the State, attended the Congress, and delivered a speech in which he highly appreciated the operations of the Association for the past time, while posing new requirements for the Association in the coming time.

Dear comrades and friends!

Grasping the Directive No. 43 of the Party’s Secretariat and the direction of Mr. Tran Thanh Man, Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Congress expressed its determination to strengthen solidarity, strive its best to make the Association strong and ceaselessly develop to meet the requirements of mission in the new situation. The Congress call for organisations, cadres and members of the Association to promote their responsibility and enthusiasm to better fulfill their missions assigned by the Party, State and the people; raise more support for the victims and actively participate in the struggle for justice of the victims of Agent Orange.

The Congress calls for all victims of Agent Orange to overcome their difficulties, illnesses and poverty to adhere to the guidelines of the Party, laws of the State, and improve their health conditions and living standard, and build happy families.

With the tradition of “Solidarity – Sentiment – Responsibility – For the victims of Agent Orange”, we will certainly succeed!
