UNITY - LOVE - RESPONSIBILITY - FOR VICTIMS OF AO POXICOLOGY

Belgian golf tournament in support of Vietnamese Agent Orange victims

On June 22, 2025, at Hulencourt Golf Course, Brabant Wallonia Province, Belgium, the 12th “Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium Cup” Charity Golf Tournament took place. This tournament was held by the Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium in coordination with Ms. Chris Geyskens, President of the Belgian Branch of the International Association for Vietnamese Agent Orange Victims - Hoi An, with the support of Hulencourt Golf Course. This is an annual sport event with profound humanitarian meaning, aiming to raise funds to support Vietnamese Agent Orange victims who are still suffering the severe consequences of toxic chemicals during the war.

This year's tournament brought together nearly 90 amateur golfers, including diplomats, businessmen, international friends and the Vietnamese community in Belgium; raised more than 15,000 euros to support Agent Orange victims in Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union Nguyen Van Thao stressed that this year's tournament took place in the context of many positive developments in the Vietnam-Belgium relations, especially after the State visit of the King and Queen of Belgium to Vietnam in April 2025. This activity not only contributes to raising funds to directly help distressed victims, but also raises awareness of the international community about the long-term, severe consequences of Agent Orange/dioxin in Vietnam. The Ambassador also thanked the Vietnamese community in Belgium, sponsors, and international friends for their support; especially the persistent contributions of Ms. Chris Geyskens and her husband, who have kept the flame of volunteerism alive, with a compassionate heart for Agent Orange victims in Vietnam for over a decade.

Ms. Chris Geyskens expressed her pride that the tournament has attracted more and more Belgians and Vietnamese, demonstrating a high sense of responsibility to the community. She pledged that all the money donated will be given directly to the AO victims in Vietnam. Notably, Nguyen Ngoc Kim Ngan, a 13-year-old girl who is the youngest golfer of the tournament - won the women's championship, making an inspiring highlight for this charitable event.

The 12th "Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium Cup" charity golf tournament ended in a warm atmosphere; not only demonstrating the sympathy and love for the AO victims in Vietnam, but also becoming a friendship bridge in the context of the increasingly comprehensive and profound development of the relationship between Vietnam and Belgium./.
