1. The year 2024 marks a breakthrough in the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 5th National Congress of the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (2023-2028 term), which was also the year of leadership changes in the Central Committee of the Association and many provincial and municipal Associations. The new leadership of the Association’s Central Committee has led and directed the entire Association to successfully complete all tasks assigned by the Party and the State. Many results went far beyond expectations.
2. VAVA celebrated its 20th anniversary (January 10, 2004 - January 10, 2024) of establishment. Over the past 20 years, the Association has continuously developed and matured, becoming a core force in the fight for justice for Vietnamese Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin and mobilizing resources to care for and assist the victims. The Association was honored to be awarded the First, Second and Third Class Labor Medals by the Party and State; and the Banner: “Solidarity - Affection - Responsibility - For Agent Orange Victims” by the Secretariat.

3. The Charter (amended and supplemented) of VAVA was approved by the Minister of Home Affairs and issued together with Decision No. 297/QD-BNV dated April 23, 2024. This is a legal document for VAVA to carry out the tasks assigned by the Party and the State in order to unite and gather victims who are Vietnamese citizens harmed by Agent Orange/dioxin used by the US during the war in Vietnam; and Vietnamese organizations and citizens who voluntarily participate in overcoming the consequences of Agent Orange/dioxin in Vietnam, for the benefit of AO victims…
4. VAVA in collaboration with the National Humanitarian Portal 1400 and the MB’s Voluntary App launched the program "Joining hands to ease the pain of Agent Orange - 2024". The program mobilized nearly 1.4 billion VND for the victims of Agent Orange.
* Innovating fund-raising way in 2024 in the practical and effective direction. This brought about 521,454 million VND in which 7,565 billion was raised by the Central Association, and the rest was mobilized by the localities
5. The "Lighting up the future" art program, was jointly held by the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for overcoming the consequences of post war unexploded ordnance and toxic chemicals in Vietnam (Steering Committee 701), VAVA and the Military Radio and Television, in response to the Day for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in Vietnam (August 10) and the 63rd anniversary of the Agent Orange disaster in Vietnam (1961-2024). The program spread the message: "Lighting up the future" - lighting up the dreams and hopes of AO Victims in overcoming difficulties to rise up in life.
* The exhibition "Agent Orange - Conscience and Justice in 2024" held by VAVA’s Central Committee in coordination with the Chemical Command and Quang Tri province, attracted more than 2,000 domestic and foreign visitors. More than 500 million VND was raised during the time of exhibition to support the victims of Agent Orange in Quang Tri province.
6. Resolutely and persistently supporting Ms. Tran To Nga's lawsuit against the American chemical corporations that produced and supplied Agent Orange/dioxin to the US military for use during the war in Vietnam. VAVA (which sent a delegation to attend the trial and work with the French and Belgian Parliament) together with the Vietnamese people and peace-lovers around the world all refuted the conclusion of the Paris Court of Appeal on August 22 that was not in line with reality; requested that the chemical companies that produced and supplied Agent Orange/dioxin to the US military for use during the war in Vietnam be responsible for remedying the consequences they have caused.
* On September 26, Ms. Tran To Nga, a woman who persistently fought for justice for millions of Vietnamese Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin, was awarded the title "Honorary Citizen of Villejuif" by the Mayor of Villejuit (France) - the highest award given by the city.
7. Storm No. 3 also called Yagi in early September inflicted serious damage on the people and property in the northern provinces and cities of our country. Responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, VAVA’s Central Committee contributed 1.2 billion VND from its fund, deployed delegations to visit, present gifts, support livelihoods, and accommodation for victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in 16 provinces and cities severely damaged by storms and floods.
8. The 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2024-2029 term with the theme "Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Creativity - Development" was solemnly held in Hanoi from October 16 to 18 as a great success.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh, VAVA’s President, was elected as member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. VAVA is a responsible member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
9. VAVA’s Central Committee in coordination with central departments, ministries and branches, such as: the Mass Mobilization Commission, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Health, deployed a check force of the implementation of Directive 43-CT/TW dated May 14, 2015 of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee; and the implementation of Decision 118-QD/TW dated August 22, 2024 in Can Tho city and the provinces of An Giang, Kien Giang, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh in preparation for the 10-year review of Directive 43-CT/TW in 2025.
10. VAVA’s Central Committee welcomed and worked with 52 international delegations with a total of more than 400 people. Among them, the Belgian delegation led by Mr. Andre' Flahaut, Secretary of State, Honorary President of the House of Representatives, former Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Belgium, visited and worked with VAVA. Along with that, there were also many other delegations from the USA, France, UK, Switzerland, Japan, Korea, Sweden, Thailand...
* The Central Committee of the Association participated in the third annual Dialogue with the theme: "Legacies of war and peace in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia" in October at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) and delivered a speech at the 4th Roundtable Discussion. The speech focused on the issues: Supporting for disabled people, victims of Agent Orange; The effects and impacts of Agent Orange/dioxin used by the US during the Vietnam War on people and requested the US Government to pay more attention to implementing projects that directly support Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange.
