Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh and Head of the Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegation present gifts in Quang Tri

On January 15, 2024, the working delegation of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA), including Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh, VAVA’s President, head of the delegation, Mr. Pierre Du Ville, Head of the Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegation in Vietnam; Ms. Tran Thi My Duc, Thien Quang Pagoda Charity Fund; Ms. Tran To Nga, a victim of Agent Orange/Dioxin - the Plaintiff in the Paris Court of Appeal lawsuit and Ms. Do Mai Khanh, Head of VAVA’s External Relations Department, presented gifts to victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin and people with disabilities in Quang Tri province.

The delegation coordinated with the Provincial Association for victims of Agent Orange/dioxin and the Department of Foreign Affairs to present 18 wheelchairs and crutches given by the President of the Belgian Senate, the President of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives and the Swiss Vietnamese Association to the Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange/dioxin after the Belgian Chamber of Representatives passed a resolution calling for support for Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange/dioxin. The resolution is of great significance to the Vietnamese people in general and to the victims of Agent Orange/dioxin, in particular, helping raising the international community's awareness of the Agent Orange disaster in Vietnam to continue to support Vietnam in dealing with the consequences of war.

The delegation also presented 40 Tet gifts from VAVA’s Central Committee to the victims; attended the inauguration and handover of a house to the family of the victim Ho Thi Lanh of Van Kieu ethnic group in the poor district of Dakrong so that this year her family will live in a new house to celebrate Tet.

On this occasion, the delegation visited the Quang Tri School for Disabled Children and presented 5 Tet gifts, and inspected 2 vocational training classes for Agent Orange victims (1 incense making class and 1 cake making class) which are being held at the school, supported by Ms. Tran To Nga and the Swiss-Vietnam Friendship Association.

These meaningful and practical gifts contribute to encouraging the AO victims to feel gladder when Tet comes.
