Swiss delegation visits Social Protection Center for Vietnamese Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin

On the morning of October 17, 2025, a 25-member Swiss tourist delegation visited the Social Protection Center for Vietnamese Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin.


The delegation took souvenir photos with veterans and victims at the Center

Receiving the delegation were Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Head of the International - Scientific Department of VAVA; Mr. Nguyen Thang Long, Director of the Center; veterans from Thai Nguyen and Dien Bien provinces who are doing the detoxification sauna program at the Center; and all officers, employees and victims being cared for at the Center.

In his welcoming speech, Mr. Nguyen Thang Long said that this was the second time Cotravel and Asia Trails Company took the tourists to the Center. He emphasized that the visit of the delegation showed the affection, concern and sharing of international friends for the victims of Agent Orange in Vietnam. On behalf of the staff and victims, he sincerely thanked the delegation, and expressed his hope that after the visit, each member would continue to spread humane messages to the European community, helping international friends understand more the disaster of toxic chemicals used by the US military during the war, which had left serious and painful consequences for the people and environment of Vietnam.

On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Karin Strucki spoke with feeling that: through information from the Swiss Embassy in Vietnam, the delegation was very impressed by Vietnam's great efforts in overcoming the consequences of war, building and developing the country. He was painful to learn that, although the war had ended half a century ago, the consequences of Agent Orange continued to affect the third and fourth generations of its participants. He also expressed his deep sympathy to the victims and expressed his wish to return to the Center in the future.

The delegation presented gifts to the Center

On this occasion, the delegation presented milk, instant noodles and an amount of VND 8 million to the Center to help improve meals for the victims.
