Belgium Chamber of Representatives holds hearing on draft resolution in support of Vietnamese AO victims

On 20 th June 2023, the Chamber of Representatives of the Federal Parliament of Belgium held a hearing on the draft Resolution in support of Vietnamese AO victims.

The session was chaired by Ms. Els Van Hoof, Chairwoman of the Foreign Affairs Committee under the Belgian Chamber of Representatives with the participation of parliamentarians.

Overview of the hearing

 Participants discussed with the parliamentarians who proposed the draft Resolution and experts in the field to learn more about the draft resolution that calls for financial support from Belgium Government for Vietnamese AO victims and urged the Chamber of Representatives of the Belgium Federal Parliament to pass the resolution. Addressing at the hearing, Mr. Pierre Grega, President of the Belgium-Vietnam Friendship Association, who just had a visit to Vietnam in early March, stressed the importance of the draft resolution and hoped that the document would soon be passed for scientists to continue to analyze the consequences that toxic chemicals cause to the people and ecosystem. This matter is not of Vietnam only but has become a global one.
