Letter from the 5th Congress of the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin, 2023 - 2028 tenure to its cadres, members and Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange

Hanoi, December 29th, 2023

The 5th Congress of the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, held on December 28 and 29, 2023 in Hanoi, was a great success. The Congress saw the attendance of 297 delegates, representing more than 400 thousand members nationwide. The Congress reviewed its implementation of tasks during the 2018-2023 term and set out directions, goals, and solutions to implement the Association's tasks in the 2023-2028 term; elected the Central Executive Committee of the Association to run the work in the next term. The Congress continued to honor Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh, former Member of the Party Central Committee, and former Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam as the Honorary President of the Association.

The Congress was also honorably attended by leaders of the Party, the State, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front, delegates from departments, ministries, branches and unions. In particular, comrade Bui Thi Minh Hoai, on behalf of the leaders of the Party and State, attended the Congress and delivered instructing speech.

Dear comrades and friends!

The 4th Congress of the Association took place while the whole country was striving to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress; the political system is implementing Directive No. 43 - CT/TW dated May 14, 2015 of the Party Central Committee Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership in dealing with the consequences of toxic chemicals used by the US. during the war in Vietnam; VAVA’s cadres and members were emulating to make achievements to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin (January 10, 2004 - January 10, 2024). These are truly important political events, creating great motivation for the Association to overcome difficulties and well implement the Resolution of the 5th Congress, 2023-2028 term; soon bring the Congress Resolution into the life and activities of the Association.

With the spirit of "Solidarity - Gratitude - Responsibility - For victims of Agent Orange", innovating to make the Association strong, successfully completing the tasks assigned by the Party and State, the Congress calls on the Association’s affiliates, cadres and members to bring into full play their sense of responsibility to better fulfil the assigned tasks; strive to well implement policies for victims of Agent Orange and mobilize as much as possible resources to contribute to caring for and helping the victims.

 The Congress calls on victims of Agent Orange to continue to overcome difficulties and illnesses, stabilize their lives, build happy families, and gradually integrate into the community, worthy of being exemplary citizens, veterans, and former youth volunteers at the localities.

The 5th National Congress of the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, 2023 – 2028 term, wishes all of its beloved cadres, members and victims of Agent Orange good health, happiness and luck in life!
