10 HIGHLIGHTS OF VAVA IN 2025

 

(In chronological order)

1. On April 1, 2025, Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh, President of the Vietnamese Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, and Minister-President of the Brussels Capital Region Rudi Vervoort signed a memorandum of understanding on the “Agreement in Principle between the Vietnamese Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin and the Aquitara Impact Fund 1 of the Kingdom of Belgium” in the presence of President Luong Cuong and King Philippe of the Kingdom of Belgium.

2. Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh, Honorary President of VAVA, was awarded the title of Hero of Labor; 1. Professor, Doctor Nguyen Thi Ngoc Phuong and Major General Tran Ngoc Tho (former Vice President of the Association) and Ms. Tran To Nga were honored at the Ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 2025).

3. On June 25, the first Congress of VAVA Party Cell, term 2025–2030, was successfully held. Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh, President of the Association, was elected as the Secretary of the Party Cell.

4. The Standing Body of VAVA Central Committee met with and commended press agencies on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day.

5. Association organizations at all levels seriously implemented Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW “Some issues on continuing to innovate and reorganize the organizational structure of the political system in the streamlined, effective and efficient direction.”

6. On August 5th, the Central Committee of the Association, in coordination with the Office of the Steering Committee 701 and the Military Radio and Television, broadcast a live program titled “Following the Dawn”, with the attendance of Comrade Do Van Chien, Member of the Political Bureau, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. The program received 2.5 billion VND donated by organizations, businesses, and individuals to support victims of Agent Orange/dioxin.

7. Responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Central Committee of the VAVA launched a campaign to support people affected by storms and floods. In this event, it allocated 2.15 billion VND from the Vietnam Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims Fund to provide housing and livelihood support for Agent Orange/dioxin victims in severely affected localities.

8. The Central Committee of VAVA strengthened people-to-people diplomacy and international cooperation; received and worked with 60 international delegations. Its delegation had a working trip in Europe and attended the World Conference Against Atomic and Hydrogen Bombs in Japan.

9. The Central Committee of VAVA coordinated with the Chemical Corps and localities to hold the exhibition “Agent Orange - Conscience and Justice” in Bac Giang (now Bac Ninh province) and “Joining Hands to Alleviate the Pain of Agent Orange” in Dong Nai.

10. Following the directives of the Party Central Committee, the Central Committee of VAVA and its affiliates in localities successfully conducted review of 10 years of implementing Directive 43-CT/TW dated May 14, 2015 of the Party Central Committee and set directions for the coming years.
